Narrative Pitch
Lighting
For the purposes
of this project our group will be utilizing natural lighting for any of the
outdoor scenes. Now for any indoor scenes like in the apartment or lab if need
be we will use additional lighting for those instances.
Shot
Framing
There
will be lots of variety here because of the detailed script. In the beginning
of Scene
One when it opens it the scene of the classroom I plan to shoot some
wide and closer shots. Wide shots will be the ones where we set up the scene
and show the class. Once we focus on the student and the teacher individual
those will likely be tight shots where it will show a portion of background but
focused mainly on that individual in the shot. Before the close of that scene
we will have the “DEADLINE” shot which it will just be a title slide with
“DEADLINE” written on it. Scene Two opens with an outside shot
which will start off wider than likely closer in as he “runs” to his apartment.
As the scene progresses to the shot of the Word document it will have the shot
of the computer with the Word document pulled up which I would like to have as
an over-the-shoulder shot. For the scenes when the clock is shown it will be
very tight shot with just the digital clock in focus. “Napping” scenes will be
filmed in a dorm room with a wide shot length wise to accommodate the length of
the bed so all of it will be in the shot. Scene 3 are going to coordinate with
most of the others with the scenes of the alarm clock and any “napping” scenes.
Color
Throughout
the video color will remain warm throughout most of it. Some cool colors will
likely show in the outdoor scenes but indoor scenes in the dorm room will be
warm. Warm colors for the indoor scenes will play to the height of the story
for the purposes of the video.

Phrases/Script
Kayla Stewart
1 “Man I sure wish I had some coupons!”
2 “Do you see who just walked in?”
3 “Oh my god, is this really that price?”
4 “You mean to tell me I got all of this for that
price?!”
5 “How do I sign up?”
Script:
Kayla: I’m ready to check out.
Amanda: What’s a good phone number or email for you?
Kayla: I rather not give that information out, what do you
need it for anyway?
Amanda: We use your phone number or email to look you up in
our system to see if you information is updated to receive coupons and/or
notifications of our sales and special promotions going on.
Customer: Ok I guess I will for that because this is my
first time in here and I really like what I found so I’m sure I’ll be back!
Amanda: Ok so I’ll start with either your phone number or
email, whichever is easier?
Kayla: Email probably. Its kaylstew@iusb.edu.
Amanda: You also have the option of inputting your mailing
address as well too. Did you want to do that or just stick with email today?
Kayla: I’ll stick with email.
Amanda: Ok (continues to ring up her purchases)
Kayla: I got some really good deals today! Is there any
coupons so I get more off. (laughs)
Amanda: Sometimes we have online coupons you could google or
you can even sign up for the rewards card.
Kayla: So how do I sign up for that?
Amanda: I just need a valid ID and card with a credit logo
that’s serves as another form of ID.
Kayla: Awesome, hope I get approved!
Amanda: Alright I’ll swipe these and see where we go from
here
Kayla: Ok
Amanda: Alright, says you were approved!
Kayla: Awesome, you just earned a new long time customer!
Amanda: That’s always good to here!

Documentary Pitch
Pitch for Documentary Video Project

Tagline: Walking with a purpose
For the documentary video I have decided to do it on a subject that is very meaningful to me:MDA. Now the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is a non-profit that its purpose is to help find cures and even treatments and/or services to aid families dealing with MD and many other neuromuscular diseases. My vision for the documentary is for the viewer to get a sense of what MDA means to me as well as other families.
I became involved with MDA because I felt like I had to keep my brothers fight alive. Before he passed away shortly after his 16th birthday, he struggled daily with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
My vision on how it will all come together is that we will interview myself, some of my teammates (I am a team captain for one of our local charity walks), the Health Services coordinator of our local MDA chapter and possibly a local family that deals with the struggles of MD every day. Aside from interviews we will also have footage from the day of the 2015 Muscle Walk. The MDA Muscle Walk is what we all like to call our victory lap for all the fundraising and hard work we put in throughout the year in working toward finding a “cure”. From each individual the goal is to again highlight the meaning of MDA. With having worked the Kathy Selking, HS Coordinator I have her already onboard with being

on camera as well as myself and some of my teammates. Another subject that I was looking to include was one of the local families that use the MDA services, due to medical reasons it may not work out butim still working on securing this one.
Editing wise I would like it to have clips of the interviews throughout with each person’s name and title. Then when there is not an interview clip I would like to see quotes or statements highlighted against a light colored background along with cuts to various photos and video from past and current events as well as some of the mementos that I have.

Possible interview questions:
1) How did you first become involved in MDA?
2) How many years exactly have you been with the company?
3) Does your job ever get emotionally hard to handle at times? How?
4) How would describe MDA in a sentence and/or few words?
5) Have you worked with other non-profits before?
6) When I say MDA, what comes to mind?
7) What is something new & exciting happening with MDA?
8) The MDA Muscle Walk, could you tell me what that is and how the families become involved?
9) What resources does MDA provide for local families whether it be medically or otherwise?
10) Have we left anything out that you like people to know about MDA and/or yourself?

Kathy has worked with MDA for several years now. She is based in Ft. I have met and worked with her discussing and planning details regarding the MDA Muscle Walk during her time with MDA.

Music Video Analysis
Here I give you a song that may stick in your head for some time if you haven't heard it before; "All About that Bass" by Megan Trainor
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PCkvCPvDXk
We could go on about the contradicting message of her video but I'll just mention some of the aesthetics of the video. The video I feel is not too complicated in and of itself; it starts off introducing the "characters" in the beginning then continues on with the story/message as the video continues. It has some sharp cuts and smooth transitions and zoom shots. Another noticeable thing after having watched the video again a few times was that she seemed to be in the center of every shot when they would cut to her in the the video each time. That to mean seems somewhat contradicting to the "real" message here.

BRAINSTORM
*Music Video
After racking my brain for ideas one I think that could be manageable with pulling group resources together could be a flash mob of some sort and naturally incorporating some music with that. Not sure on any specifics of how it would go but fingers crossed they would come later after thinking more if my group decides to run with this idea.
Video Example (courtesy of Youtube)
*Narrative
Tell the story of the "Disney College Program Cast Member". The experience of a cast member doing the program involves so much including LONG hours working, playing in the parks and doing other random things you find to do in the VERY LITTLE free time you have at times.
*Documentary
As I mentioned previously that I do charity work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and was thus inspired to found my team Alex's Angels. Idea I had that involved this would be to profile myself and/or my team about it how I started the team and our progress through the years of regarding team members and our fundraising efforts as well.

What you see is...NOT what you get!
Do not be alarmed by the title we shall get to that soon. For those who do not know me I'm Kayla and very much compassionate for my friends and family. I feel like I definitely am one who will listen without judgement and try my best to understand everyone's viewpoint. Not perfect by any means but I firmly believe you can "never judge a book by its cover". With that said, back to the title of this post; When you first meet me most would assume I am shy and very reserved (which I am until I feel comfortable) but there so much more to me then many may assume.
Some of the fun parts of my life I like to include here are that I worked for Mickey Mouse! A few years back I did the Disney College Program which has become more well known over the years but for those that do not know it is basically the opportunity of a lifetime where you make lifelong friendships and experiences during the best 5-8 months you are there. Since I worked Quick Service Food & Beverage and I went in the Fall semester during some major holidays like Christmas and New Years, there were definitely long hours spent working and restless nights which was well worth it in the end at least for me! In addition to being a lifelong Disney Fanatic, I also am very much involved with charity work within the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) organization. For several years now I have served as the founder and Team Captain of Alex's Angels. Our team continues to evolve over the years and we are really looking forward to this years upcoming walk. When I am not obsessing over Disney or doing preparations for the MDA Walk I tend to be a home body who loves watching TV, hanging out with, my BEST FRIEND, who I like to call my Grandma. I also am I beauty/fashion lover who obsesses over YouTube videos of beauty gurus showing the latest and greatest and enjoying life and trying my best to live in the moment.
Some of my goals are definitely graduating soon and moving to a new city maybe Chicago or Indy. One of my ultimate dream goals is definitely experiencing the Big Apple and I would love to use my curiosity and knowledge/skills and get a job in the beauty industry working for a makeup brand or doing what I've always wanted to do and work for a fashion magazine doing graphics. So yes I am kind of wanting to do everything at the moment but as for what my future holds I am very optimistic. As for a career but I just would ultimately want to love whatever I am doing and try my hardest at it.
Thanks for reading
